Long Weekend - On The Nene Way
My ’New Kit’ was well used since Friday.
I took off for a few days along the Nene Way. Worked out from Sutton Bridge through to Peterborough and then on to Oundle and finishing this section at Thrapston.
Weather was cold but mainly dry with sunshine and snow. A north-easterly wind, though light, was definitely adding a fair wind-chill factor.
I was comfortable in my trusty Akto tent and the new Vargo titanium gas stove (Jet-Ti) was absolutely great. It’s a fierce beast and with the use of a couple of pot cosies very economical on gas.
I was well grateful for the BPL silk sleeping bag liner too. It does definitely make a few degrees difference. I shall be using that again for at least two good reasons, it keeps me extra warm and it keeps my sleeping bag clean.
Misty Morning - Near Fotheringhay

I’ve just stumbled across your blog and see that mine’s already on your blogroll. I’ll add yours to mine forthwith. Your photo of Fotheringhay is so evocative - the sort of “misty moisty morning” that Sandy Denny’s old band, Fotheringay, might have sung about (actually, I think that line is in a Steeleye Span song).
Hi Litehiker,
Glad you like the photo.
It was a very ‘misty, moisty morning’. The scene was taken from just outside my akto entrance at about 06.45hrs. It was definitely one of those mornings to have a second brew before even thinking about moving on.
Cheers, Robin
